Bizarre Funeral of £4,000,000 Lottery Winner Sees Her Buried with Vouchers, Stickers and Red Bull

Bizarre Funeral of £4,000,000 Lottery Winner Sees Her Buried with Vouchers, Stickers and Red Bull

Melissa Ede, a former lottery winner recently passed away and her heartbroken fiancée carried out her dying wish; to bury her with a collection of bizarre items. The £4,000,000 scratchcard winner was given “one hell of a send-off” with mourners dressed in vibrant clothes – even the celebrant was dressed in a multi-coloured suit and matching tie. Melissa died earlier this month in Hull at the age of 58, just days after being given the all-clear from a heart-scare. Speaking to a packed colourful church full of mourners, her fiancé Rachel Nason stated the lottery winner was the “star of her own reality show.”

Speaking to a media outlet, Rachel told them how she found Mel slumped in the sat of her car; “I honestly thought she was mucking about. I was expecting her to open her eyes and say ‘boo’. Mel finally had the chance to do anything she wanted and it got ripped away from her. We were going to have a wild circus wedding. We were going to wear inflatable suits and have clowns, trapeze artists. She wanted to take us all on holiday as none of us had ever gone abroad.”

Bright and Beautiful

The funeral saw Melissa buried with newspapers detailing her whirlwind lifestyle, plus a collection of unusual items. Along with the papers, a phone, a charger, her Pokemon: Go collection, tab ends, a lighter, a torch, Farm Food vouchers, McDonald’s loyalty stickers, candles that read “c**t”, a crucifix, coins, cans of Red Bull, Quality Street chocolates and a pink Adidas jacket made the hit list.

The coffin arrived at the church service via rainbow-coloured carriage with white horses and inside the venue were replicas of her £4m winning scratchcard. Alastair Devine, the celebrant told the mourners that Melissa was a “terrible millionairess” who still loved to grab a bargain despite being considerably wealthy. He continued: “She was like no other person you could ever meet. You could travel the whole world and you wouldn’t find another Mel.

Many people remember Melissa for her zany YouTube Videos where she hung objects from her chest; “Yes, you may know her for getting her boobs out…”

Rachel said of her fiancé; “I think she wanted everyone to know who she was and to make an impact on the world somehow but didn’t know quite how.”

Before winning the huge sum of £4m, Melissa was previously known as Les who worked as an engineer and welder before hopping in a cab and becoming a taxi driver for 15-years. Shortly after this, Les had gender reassignment surgery in 2011 to become Melissa. Alistair said; “All Mel wanted was to be accepted for the woman she always knew that she was throughout her life. The world is certainly going to be a duller place without Mel around.”

Despite reported rifts in the family, a few of Mel’s four children attended the funeral.

New Set for Life Lotto Finally Sees a Top-Prize Won After New ‘Super Chance’ Rule!

New Set for Life Lotto Finally Sees a Top-Prize Won After New ‘Super Chance’ Rule!

The National Lottery Set for Life lotto game has come under fire recently for failing to produce a winner of its top prize; £10,000 a month for 30-years, despite launching two month ago, but all that has changed, after two lucky Brits bagged the top prize last week but the pair have chosen to remain anonymous.

Lottery organisers Camelot launched the game back in March, the twice-a-week game which costs £1.50 per play. Thursday 23rd May, Excalibur 6 with ball set SFL1 drew the following numbers; 15, 21, 31, 44, 45 and Life Ball number: 03. Two lucky winners matched the first five main balls – usually, this is £10,000 a month for ONE YEAR, but because a newly introduced ‘super chance’ rule, the lucky duo will in fact receive the top prize of £10,000 a month for THIRTY YEARS. The new rule meant that because nobody had won the top prize last week (for the 20th time), the top-tiered jackpot fell to the position below and I bet they couldn’t believe their luck!

The twenty-eight people who only managed to match four of the five main balls but matched the Life Ball, will be seething what with winning substantially less; just £250 each!

“Thursday’s Set for Life draw was one to remember as we crowned the very first top prize winners. They can now live the good life with an extra £10,000 month after month” said a Camelot spokesperson.

There’s Strength in Numbers – Lotto Numbers! Find Out How Syndicates Could Benefit You!

There’s Strength in Numbers – Lotto Numbers! Find Out How Syndicates Could Benefit You!

Being part of a lottery syndicate guarantees three things; more players, more chances to win and more special moments! Being part of a syndicate is a great way to share the thrill of winning and you create a team with friends, family or even work colleagues and you can choose any of the following six lottery draws to get started; Lotto, Euro Millions, Set For Life, Thunder Ball, Lotto Hotpicks and Euro Millions Hotpicks.

Build the Team

Playing as a group can be a lot more fun than playing alone and celebrating a win with others can be so much more rewarding, according to the National Lottery. At the end of the day, you’re all in it to try and win a big jackpot – the more players with numbers in the syndicate, the more chances you have of winning, compared to going it alone. But you’ll need to get some friends, family or work colleagues together before you get the (lottery) ball rolling.

Setting up a syndicate agreement from the very start will provide ease and peace of mind for both the syndicate manager and the other members – this is important, because you don’t want to be falling out of you win now do you! As all payments are taken from, and all prizes are paid only to, the syndicate manager, it is important that everyone knows and are in agreement with how regularly payments are paid and how the prizes will be distributed to the syndicate members. The National Lottery say it’s important to consider the following before starting the syndicate:

  • Agree who the manager is
  • Which games, draws, how many lines will be played?
  • How and when will payments be made?
  • What happens if someone misses a payment?
  • How and when will prizes be shared – or will they be reinvested?
  • Will the group want publicity in the event of a big win?
  • How will the group communicate a large win – and to who?

Setting up a payment date from the members in your syndicate will eradicate any problems that could arise. If all payments are not in on time, it can be quite annoying and will cause disruption – and heaven knows, you may even miss out on a lottery win!

You can have as many people in your syndicate as you like but remember; the more players in, the smaller the cash pot will be for each player. An example of this is; 10 players in the syndicate with a £10,000,000 win, will result in £1,000,000 each – but 100 players in with a £10m win, will result in a much smaller slice of the pie – that’s £100,000 each.

Lotto Winner Assets Frozen as Police Investigate Husbands Money Laundering

Lotto Winner Assets Frozen as Police Investigate Husbands Money Laundering

In 2008, Amanda Nuttall (then 34-years old), won the UK National Lottery and scooped the sum of £2.5m. Soon after claiming her winnings, the lotto winner splashed out on a private jet, luxury holidays in Dubai and Cannes and went on numerous Harrods spending sprees. Fast forward to 2019 and now her assets have been seized by the police, as part of an international money-laundering probe.

After matching all her numbers, she and her businessman husband Jonathan, made a few changes to their luxury country home; the first being the installation of a swimming pool. Whilst living the high-life, the pair then rented a £2,000 a week flat in London! You’d be forgiven for thinking the money would be dwindling fast at this rate! But the endless sprees and never-ending money drew the attention of many crime-fighting agencies, which led to the UK police claiming that Jonathan made his fortune through money-laundering, while putting his wealth in his wife’s name. It’s not hard to come to that conclusion is it because when you do the math; the numerous spending sprees in one of the world’s most expensive department stores, the purchase of a private jet and swimming pool, plus when you throw in all the luxury holidays and the flat in the most expensive place to live in Britain – you’d have expected the money to run out pretty quick!

In a civil action, the National Crime Agency (aka the British FBI), stated that they had seized assets from Mrs Nuttall, even though she has not been found guilty of any offence. The NCA recovered an award-winning luxury hotel from property developer Eric Grove (89) of Solihull in the West Midlands, a £100,000 Bentley from Timothy Becker (55) a London Barrister – plus assets from Mrs Nuttall, although the amount seized from the lottery winner has not been disclosed due to a confidentiality deal.

It’s estimated that hundreds of millions of “dirty” cash was transferred through more than 100 bank accounts all around the world. The investigation into the Nuttall’s has taken eight pain-staking years, which saw officers’ probe roughly 100,000 transactions. Many say that cash was sourced from Russian embezzlement and UK fraud. Andy Lewis, NCA head of asset denial, said: “Jonathan Nuttall amassed considerable wealth as a result of his and others’ unlawful conduct. He is not himself a party to the claim. That is because he structured his business affairs so that he didn’t hold any of the recoverable property himself, leaving everything in the name of his wife and others. Recovering assets that have been illegally obtained is a priority for the NCA and we are pleased that our commitment to this investigation into Mr Nuttall and his associates has paid off in agreeing this settlement. The defendants were of high standing within their communities with interest in local properties and businesses. Crime most certainly has not paid in this case.”

Now, the pair must pay back £6,000,000 for laundering the money.

The Latest Powerball Jackpot Winner and Their Plans & the €199.5m Latest Draw

The Latest Powerball Jackpot Winner and Their Plans & the €199.5m Latest Draw

It’s always nice to discover the latest Powerball winners and learn of what they plan to do with their new found fortunes. The latest bout of winners have come forward to claim their windfall, so let’s take a look at what the future has in store for them.

The Powerball Jackpot Chaser

Setting the scene; Baltimore and the chase for the roll-over cash came to an end when a Wisconsin player bagged a huge jackpot of $768.4m by playing the Powerball and on this same date; 27th March, Jin Jung of Olney joined the list of winners when he discovered he had won a $50,000 prize.

Jin the 50-year old hard-working father, couldn’t believe his luck, what with his 22-year old son carrying his winning ticket in his wallet for almost two weeks before discovering the big win. “I actually went to purchase a Mega Millions today and decided to check my Powerball ticket while I was there,” said Jin, smiling. “When I scanned the ticket, it said I won $50,000!” Jin asked the store clerk what he should do next, who instantly instructed him to head down to Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim his prize, but he failed to tell his wife until him and his son were in Baltimore.

Nice!

24-Year Old Claims Third Largest Lottery Prize in US History of More than $768 Million!

24-Year Old Claims Third Largest Lottery Prize in US History of More than $768 Million!

A 24-year old Wisconsin man has stepped forward to claim the third largest lottery prize in US history! Before last months Powerball draw, Manuel Franco had less than $1000 in his bank, but this needn’t be an issue now after claiming a whopping $768 million windfall! The lucky young man from Milwaukee suburb of West Allis, purchased his tickets for March 27th Powerball draw without ever dreaming he would be the one standing on the podium with Wisconsin’s Department of Revenue Secretary Peter Barca and Wisconsin Lottery Director Cindy Polzin!

Franco had two options; receive the total prize spread out over his lifetime or to go with a smaller cash lump sum; he opted for the latter, which means after paying state federal taxes, Franco will take home roughly $326 million!

After realising he won this life-changing amount of money, he still went to work, but he quit that day and has never wanted to go back – who would? Prior to the win, Franco was struggling to save $1000. He told reporters; “Trying to get the bank account to $1,000 was my biggest concern [before winning the lottery].” On purchasing his Powerball ticket from a Speedway gas station near Milwaukee, he said he “pretty much felt lucky” and that “It’s a weird lucky feeling. It’s not natural, not normal at all.” He also added that when he purchased about $10 worth of Powerball tickets, he even winked at the security camera!

Day by Day

The day after the draw, Franco was already happy with the realisation that he had won $4 on one of his tickets, but not as happy as discovering that one of his tickets had all of those numbers he needed for the Powerball jackpot, explaining that his “heart started to pump and whatnot” when he checked and double checked the $768 million ticket.

Usually, a handful of states in America allow winners to decide whether to remain anonymous or not, but Wisconsin doesn’t allow such option, which resulted in Franco revealing his identity in order to claim his prize. He had a total of 180 days in which to make a claim, but he waited just a little over a month, to allow the win to sink in plus, during that time, he says he hired a team of lawyers and financial advisors to help him plan out what he’ll do with his financial windfall.

He is still undecided on what to do with his new found fortune, but he insists he will not become “one of the people who went bankrupt or broke or anything like that” and does have plans to travel, pay for family to go to college and to donate some money to charity. “I’m not sure what the next chapter is going to bring for my life,” he told reporters. “It feels like a dream, and it feels honestly like, any moment, I’m going to wake up and I’m just going to be back in my room, in my bed.”

Winner of $590million Powerball is Suing Her Son over Claims of Mismanagement

Winner of $590million Powerball is Suing Her Son over Claims of Mismanagement

Back in 2013, Gloria Mackenzie, an 84-year old woman scooped a mega $590 million on the Powerball. After usual tax deductions, the lucky winner took home $278 million, but less than seven years down the line and Gloria has announced she will be suing her son; Scott, and his financial advisor for ‘mismanaged winnings’. Now aged 90, Gloria alleges the pair mismanaged her winnings, with the lawsuit stating she has suffered damages in excess of $10,000,000 – hardly puts a dent in the originally winnings, but it’s a loss, nonetheless.

Greg Anderson, Gloria Mackenzie’s attorney stated; “The money was earning between .02% and .08%. then Gloria was charged $2million in fees.”

Gloria had split the winnings with her son after he helped her buy the ticket to the largest Powerball in history (at that present time), but having control over her money meant he could turn over her share to a financial advisor, one which hosted a local radio show which Scott tuned into. Harry ‘Hank’ Madden in the advisor named in the lawsuit; a certified financial planner and owner of Madden Advisory Services in Jacksonville (Florida).

Blame Game

Many allegations are stated in the lawsuit, along with claims that Madden had no experience in managing huge sums of money, plus he is accused if investing the money too conservatively, which has resulted in low returns.

Scott has filed a motion to dismiss his mothers’ claims, stating that the investments have led to no loss of money and that his mother; Gloria, wanted the winnings to be invested conservatively. Lee Wedekind III, Scott Mackenzie’s attorney, said in statement; “Although he strongly disagrees with the allegations that have been made, he will respect his family’s privacy by reserving any further comments until the case has been concluded.”

Greg Anderson, Gloria’s attorney, has voiced his concerns on how important it is to vet your financial advisor before handing over huge swathes of money to manage. Just because you know someone within the investment word, doesn’t mean that person is experienced or knows what to do. Greg said; “Your stockbroker friend down the street may have some good advice, but how fiscally responsible are they if they’re wrong?”

Step Right Up

Talking of big Powerball winnings, the winner of the $768.4million Powerball jackpot from March 27th still hasn’t come forward to claim their winnings! The lucky ticket was purchased in New Berlin, Wisconsin and is the 3rd largest in U.S lottery history. The winnings numbers were;

  • 16, 20, 37, 44, 62 plus 12 being the Powerball.

The winner has but two options, should he or she come forward; receive the full amount paid out over the next 29-years or $477 million in cash.

Grandfather Who Always Insisted He Would Win Lotto, Scoops $10million!

Grandfather Who Always Insisted He Would Win Lotto, Scoops $10million!

I’m sure many of us have insisted that one day we would win the lottery, but one lucky grandfather from North Carolina has been proven right, after scooping a huge $10,000,000 on a ‘scratch-off’ ticket. Theodore Duncan aged 52, really did win in an instant on his way to a landfill site on Monday 1st April.

The machine mechanic was gobsmacked by his good fortune but insisted it was written in the stars. On Thursday 3rd April, Theodore collected his prize and explained: ‘I always told people that one day I’d hit the lottery. Today’s that day.’ Every week, the grandfather would buy three or four tickets and recalling the moment he won, he said; ‘I said, “I won, I won, I won. I panicked, I just looked down at it. I was so shocked I couldn’t drive. I had to get my brother to come get me.’

The $10,000,000 win on the North Carolina Education Lottery was subject to tax, which meant his windfall came in at $4.2million after the necessary deductions.

Life-Saving Donations

Plans have been made already, with the lucky mechanic revealing how he will make use of his windfall; I’m going to retire and get a brand new three-bedroom house with a big pool. ‘I’m also going to use some of the money to spoil my 12 grandkids.’ Not only that, but he also plans to share a percentage of his winnings with the St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for paediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay.

Thanks to generous donations from the likes of Theodore, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. St. Jude has treated children from all 50 states and from around the world. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago.

Another Winner!

On the 3rd April, the North Carolina Education Lottery saw another winner hit a top prize, this time Richard Beare from Charlotte bagged a $250,000 prize, but this win is tinged with sadness. Richard from has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer. His wife insisted he stop at the service station for a Powerball ticket, but he opted for a scratch off ticket instead and wasn’t sure of the result with not being able to understand the ticket, but the clerk explained how it worked and revealed that he had won a quarter of a million dollars! He plans to take his wife to Italy with his win.

Lucky EuroMillions Player from Hereford UK, Scoops £71,057,439

Lucky EuroMillions Player from Hereford UK, Scoops £71,057,439

Ade Goodchild, a 58-year-old metal factory worker from Hereford UK, has become the 15th largest lottery winner, after scooping more than £71,000,000 in last Fridays EuroMillions draw. On Friday 15th March, Goodchild’s life changed forever, what with being the sole winner of a £71,057,439 fortune. He has already retired from his role and plans to travel the world in style, to buy a home with a swimming pool and hire staff to run around after him. The singleton is not exactly stupid, admitting that he hasn’t just turned attractive over night; “Just my wallet is” he said in a recent news interview. Goodchild is the 15th biggest winner in UK lottery history.

Using his mobile phone app to check his ticket, Goodchild assumed he must be one of many people to win the jackpot, but despite the ‘ping’ of his phone, he had to look and look again! The winning numbers drawn match that of his ticket; 3, 15, 24, 42 and 46, and two Lucky Stars 9 and 12.

Clean Those Glasses!

“It gave me the winning ‘ping’ sound and I thought I might have won a fiver or something. But when I checked I thought hang on, it looks like I’ve won £71,000. I put my glasses on to double check and then spotted that it was the jackpot prize and that all my numbers were circled. Then I read the prize amount again and realised that it was actually £71 million and just one winner – me!  It was then that I called my mum and dad. Their reaction was one of complete shock. I still don’t think it’s sunk in for them.”

Speaking on his upcoming lifetime of luxury, he said; “I’ve always wanted to see the pyramids so I’ll be doing a Nile cruise. I’ve also got a cousin in Canada so I want to go to see him. Then there’s the Grand Canyon and Vegas, I want to see the world. Like all parents, they worry about my mortgage, bills and how long I will have to work for. I’ve told my parents they can stop saving now and spend my inheritance.”

Congratulations!

Many of his colleagues in the factory where he worked for the past 23 years were quick to express how pleased they were for his win, with one saying; “It couldn’t have happened to a nicer fella. He’s a top bloke. Always laughing and chatting. He used to joke about buying a mansion and living like a playboy if he ever won the lottery – now he can really live the dream.”

Sarah Swain, team manager at the Co-Op store where he purchased the ticket, also said; “He’s a lovely man. Of all the customers we have in here, no one deserves to have won more than Ade does.”

Even his ex-wife of 20-years, Suzanne Jeffcott, was quick to add her message of congratulations, and insisted that the women would now be “queuing at the door!”.

Is TheLotter reliable?

Is TheLotter reliable?

A winning lottery ticket is worth a lot of money. Sometimes this is only a couple of dozen euros, yet a lottery ticket could just as easily deliver you tens or hundreds of thousands of euros when you hand it in. Therefore, it is important to work together with a lottery service that is reliable. TheLotter is one of the biggest companies for purchasing online lottery tickets for the world’s most popular lotteries. But to what extent is theLotter actually reliable? We dare say that you can quite literally put your faith in their hands. Once you discover how the company exactly works, you will probably be convinced as well.

Get to know theLotter

When it comes to money, it is crucial that you know who you are dealing with. Therefore, we should first take a look at the history of TheLotter. The company was founded in February 2002, with only one goal in mind: to let gambling enthusiasts from all over the world take part in their favourite lottery. And as lottery tickets for a lottery are only sold in the organising country itself, you really need such an intermediary.

TheLotter has no ties to any lotteries or organisations whatsoever. It is an independent party, so you can rest assured that nothing will be forced upon you. You want lottery tickets for your favourite lottery and theLotter makes this possible. That is how simple it is. Of course, the company has all the required licenses in order to be allowed to offer this service. TheLotter Enterprises Ltd. is registrered in Belize under license number 59448/

Safely creating an account and topping up your credit

In order to purchase lottery tickets through theLotter, you first need to create an account. This obviously also means that you have to fill in some personal details. It makes sense, because if you happen to win something, theLotter wants to know for sure that the money ends up with the right person. A secure connection is used for the page that stores your personal details. This actually applies to the website as a whole. So those who do not have any business looking at your details, will not be able to access it. This secure connection is even more important when it comes to topping up your credit. You do not buy your lottery tickets directly, using the money in your bank account, but rather do so through your account. You can seamlessly transfer money to your own account, so that you will have enough credit to purchase lottery tickets.

How can you know for sure that you are taking part with official lottery tickets?

Only if you have gotten your hands on official lottery tickets, will you officially be taking part in the Australian OZ Lotto, the British Thunderball or the Spanish La Primitiva. Since you will not be able to enter a store yourself to purchase lottery tickets, it might feel like a huge gamble to do so online. In order to remove those doubts, theLotter came up with a clever method. After a representative of the company buys a lottery ticket on your behalf, the receipt will be scanned. On this scan, you can see exactly which numbers you will be playing with, where the lottery ticket was bought, when it was bought and all other information regarding the purchase. For safety purposes, all of these lottery tickets are kept in a vault. No one will be able to run off with your prize now.

Honest and transparant about the own bottom line

Perhaps you purchased your first lottery tickets without too much consideration. But once you turn out to be the proud winner of a significant cash amount, you start to wonder: is a part of the profit perhaps kept by theLotter? After all, this company has to make a profit as well. TheLotter is always very clear about where they get their profits from. Your prize money is not a part of this. For each lottery ticket that you purchase, a small service fee is included. Because of this, lottery tickets for the Powerball or for El Gordo are slightly more expensive than they would be if you would purchase them in a news stand in the US or in Spain. For theLotter, it does not matter at all whether you win. Even if you bring in a jackpot of millions and millions, not a single euro of this prize will go towards theLotter. Proof that the prize money will in fact be paid out, can actually be seen from the up-to-date list of winners who are featured prominently on the website. TheLotter is proud that players win huge cash amounts through their service. This is why the money that you win will be 100% yours to keep.

Will you be one of the satisfied customers of theLotter?

Over the past 15 years, theLotter’s way or working has resulted in a large number of satisfied customers. Some of them only bought a lottery ticket once, but many enjoy coming back frequently. And this definitely means something. If you purchase a lottery ticket through theLotter, you will probably be the next to appreciate the reliability of this lottery service.
